Rose Hip Island
Welcome to the Rose Hip Island online shop. I dye my yarn in small batches in my studio in Northern Tasmania, Australia. I work in a smoke-free and pet free environment.
With a background in Environmental Science I am conscious about the resources/materials I use and the potential impacts on the environment. I aim to make my dyeing process as efficient as possible to reduce any waste. I also source my bases and materials as locally as possible.
All yarn is dyed with professional grade acid dyes. I recommend that hand dyed yarns are hand washed in cold to luke warm water with an appropriate wool wash. To be on the safe side I recommend that you wash your item separately the first couple of times. Dry flat in shade.
With hand dyed yarn, pooling and flashing may occur. It is always recommended to alternate skeins for garments when using hand dyed yarns.
Any knots or splices that I have detected will be mentioned in the listing. I endeavour to not offer items for sale with knots or splices, but the absence of these cannot be guaranteed.
Colours may appear differently on your screen. Please read the colour description carefully. I do repeat some colourways but it is in the nature of hand dyeing in small batches that even with the same methods and dye amounts, skeins can vary quite a bit from batch to batch and even within a batch.
Orders are sent with Australia post, postage within Australia is a $10AUD flat rate.
